An Al Jazeera Reporter Is Shocked At The Level Of Poverty In Sierra Leone

A Former Al Jazeera journalist Caitlin McGee recently returned home to New Zealand after spending years living in the Middle East and areas of Africa including Sierra Leone.

Caitlin McGee had spent some time previously covering the 2012 election with a team from Al Jazerra. At that time they reported on an area in Freetown’s Kroo bay slum. In there, there were thousands of people were crammed into a squalid space forced to share three dilapidated toilets. Children played among raw sewage with no opportunity for education. And then a few years after her visit, that same slum was ravaged by Ebola.

The video below as filmed by her team while over there.
