Woman’s Charities are in an uproar and are urging action from authorities after a 40 year old woman had her vagina super-glued shut after her abusive husband accused her of cheating on him.
The woman from Mpumalanga, South Africa says her husbands anger got out of hand after she was dropped off at home by her uncle.
When she arrived home he threatened her at knife point to remove her cloths and open her legs while he used super glue to glue her labia together.
She tells African Eye News Service
‘He then took out super glue and applied it on my vagina while I looked at him with horror and tears streaming down my face. I do not know what would make a man who loves a woman do that to her.’
‘I am scared that he might come back anytime and remove my head,’
She says she will never be able to have sex again due to the scarring and she feels pain every time she urinates.
After the incident the man fled and has not been back since, but the woman still lives in fear of his return and that it may be more serious next time.
Polly Neate, CEO of Women’s Aid, said: “This is a serious incident of domestic violence. Unless we recognize domestic violence when we see it, we will never recognize how pervasive it is – in many cultures including our own – or achieve the cultural change needed to understand victims’ experiences and respond appropriately to both them and the perpetrators.”
